Glasgow Art Club
The Glasgow Art Club is an institution with a 150 year old history. This private member’s club is “steeped in culture and heritage” and “a meeting place for generations of the city’s most innovative and creative inhabitants.” It was established in 1867, in its present Bath Street building, with the impressive purpose built main axhibition hall since 1893, and some famous members of the past include James Guthrie and E. A. Walton, along with several other Glasgow Boys. And now, since the Autumn of 2018, having been proposed by Margaret Evans and Lynn Howarth, I am a full artist member!
The Autumn Exhibition was opened by Mungo Cambell, deputy director of the Glasgow Hunterian museum, and by coincidence, during his speech he was framed by two of my paintings on either side! Those two paintings were then bought, on the opening weekend, by a private collector from Glasgow. It was a good weekend, that.
